The Marker F12 Tour EPF is an awesome touring binding that relies on Marker’s Extended Power Frame design to deliver exceptional performance on the descents, while remaining impressively lightweight making those ascents a little easier. Frame touring bindings are popular among skiers who want touring capabilities, but don’t want to move into a tech-fit ultra-light setup. By using an alpine toe and heel piece on top of their Extended Power Frame system the binding retains the power and connection to the snow that skiers demand. While they’re not as light as a tech-fit touring binding, they offer drastically better performance for the way back down. A lot of skiers are turning to AT bindings to explore new terrain, but you’re making a little bit of a sacrifice in performance for the descents if you’re going with a tech-fit binding. That’s where Marker’s Extended Power Frame bindings come into play. The F12 Tour is lighter than the Baron, which boosts its uphill capabilities. The toe and heel piece are borrowed from the Squire, which has become a favorite alpine binding among lighter weight skiers. If you don’t think you need the extra retention and higher DIN range of the Baron, but still want great downhill performance from your AT bindings, the Marker F12 Tour EPF is a great choice.
